# Summary of dietary protocol effectiveness

The evidence for specific dietary protocols has been taken from [the Canadian Cardiovascular Society 2021 guideline document on dyslipidemia (high cholesterol).](https://onlinecjc.ca/article/S0828-282X\(21\)00165-3/fulltext#sec0028)

Outside of high cholesterol, the following table ([taken from Appendix S4 of the guideline document](https://onlinecjc.ca/cms/10.1016/j.cjca.2021.03.016/attachment/39f9128c-f265-4776-a437-ee3374136df0/mmc1.pdf)) applies in situation where you do **not** need a dietary intervention to address **a specific medical disorder**, in which case you should consult with your healthcare provider and a licensed dietician prior to implementing a diet.
